Holiday Gift Ideas from Gabriola Island…

Living on Gabriola, known as the Island of the Arts there is never any shortage of great local gift giving ideas, and even if you don’t have an opportunity to live here yet, giving a little bit of the island may still be a possibility… & we thank you for supporting our local island community! We know it’s a bit early, however, there’s something nice about being organized well ahead, so in that spirit, here are just a few of our favorites, we’ll be providing more ideas in early December – if you have a favorite local gift – let us know and we will try to feature it…

Coffee. www.redroaster.net
Is there anything better than waking up to a coffee on Christmas morning, well only if it’s Gabriola Island’s Red Rooster coffee. Their beans are organic, fairly traded and ethically sourced. The coffee is roasted here on Gabriola in small batches & delivered locally to your door. As a micro roaster they are able to custom craft blends for you!

Slow Rise. www.slowrisebakery.ca
Mmmm…. Gabriola Granola what better way to kick start the holiday season then with hazelnut Granola fresh from Slow Rise bakery. Locally you can find it at Village Food Market, or in a few Nanaimo locals, otherwise, you may want to order the taste of the West Coast gift basket – so you can see how spoiled we are to live where we live and have access to all the goodies that Slow Rise creates.

Gift Baskets. www.thornecrateco.ca
Handcrafted local Happiness – in the vintage inspired gift baskets. There are a variety of specialty boxes; including the taste of the west coasts, or an artisan basket – threre’s something to please everyone & they ship! Orders are being accepted from November 15-December 1st.

Sunset Bed & Breakfast http://www.sunsetbeachbb.ca
How about putting up your favourite visitors in a stunning ocean view bed & breakfast? Sunset B&B, situated in the very popular Berry Point location offers a stunning craftsmen style home, great hosts & first class accommodations only steps to the beach. Don’t be surprised if they choose to extend their stay…

North Road Sports www.northroadsports.com
The gift of adventure… For the outdoor enthusiasts, we are lucky on the island to have a great sports store, featuring clothing, but also products and gear for fishing, hiking, camping & so much more. The best news is even if you aren’t on the island, you can shop from home online! Now, you’ll miss the

Gabriola Elementary School Craft Fair December 5 @ Gabriola Elementary
This is an exciting opportunity featuring a variety of island artists so you can do your shopping all in one place! In addition to the craft fair the famous cookie walk is a great way to support school activities, while avoiding the Christmas baking – but be early the cookies disappear quickly & the doors open at 10:00 am. There is also the very popular silent auction table with all sorts of some of the best the island has to offer, and because the money is going to such a worthy cause, you can feel good about your Christmas shopping! If you come to the School Craft Fair make sure to check out the side rooms, where both my creations under Knotty by Nature, and Tina’s daughter Bianca will both be having our tables – we’d love to see you!

Happy Holiday Shopping!
